Site terms
Last updated 2026-10-31. Published at https://laidline.com/legal/site-terms
These terms cover laidline.com, the hosted checker at /verify and the customer portal at account.laidline.com. They are between you and Laidline LLC (Florida, United States). By using these services you accept these terms.
What else applies
- The Laidline Source-Available Licence covers the software.
- The Customer Licence Agreement covers registrations and paid plans. If you have accepted it and these terms differ from it, the agreement governs.
- The privacy notice says what we keep and why.
The site
The site gives general information and is not legal advice. Its text and images belong to Laidline LLC or its licensors. "Laidline" and the Laidline logos are trademarks of Laidline LLC.
The hosted checker
- The checker is free and needs no account. It takes an image or audio file of up to 20 MB.
- We limit the requests from one address and the total each day. A request over a limit is refused, and you can try again later.
- Results are probabilistic. They grade evidence and are not findings of fact. A mark is evidence that a Laidline marking process ran. Finding no mark is never evidence of human origin. Do not base a decision about a person on a result alone.
- Upload only files you have the right to upload, and do not upload anything unlawful. Files are processed in memory and are not kept.
- Do not interfere with the service or get around its limits.
The customer portal
- You sign in with a link sent to a work email address at your company's domain. Free mail addresses are refused.
- You act for your company in the portal. Buy or change a plan only if you have authority to do so.
- Keep your mailbox secure. What is done through your sign-in counts as done by you.
- Deleting your account removes your sign-in and sessions. It does not cancel a subscription or revoke a licence.
- Billing and cancellation explains how paid plans are billed.
Changes to the services
We may change these services, limit them or take them offline. The software never depends on them to mark or to detect, and detection in the software stays free.
No warranty
If you are a customer under the Customer Licence Agreement, its clauses 17 and 18 govern instead of this section and the next.
THE SITE, THE HOSTED CHECKER AND THE PORTAL ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, LAIDLINE GIVES NO WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AND DISCLAIMS ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY AND ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
Liability
TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, LAIDLINE'S TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE SITE, THE HOSTED CHECKER AND THE PORTAL, OR FROM ANY RESULT THEY GIVE, IS LIMITED TO US$100. LAIDLINE IS NOT LIABLE FOR LOSS OF PROFIT, REVENUE, GOODWILL OR DATA, OR FOR INDIRECT OR CONSEQUENTIAL LOSS, ARISING FROM THEM.
These limits do not apply to:
- liability for intentional misconduct, wilful misconduct or gross negligence, including that of Laidline's employees, agents and subcontractors;
- liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or fraudulent concealment;
- liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, to the extent the law does not allow it to be excluded;
- liability under product liability law that does not allow it to be limited or excluded;
- any liability that the applicable law does not allow to be limited or excluded, including any right under the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act that cannot be limited.
Law and courts
Florida law governs these terms, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the state and federal courts located in Florida have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory rights of the law where you live and may also bring proceedings in the courts there.
Changes to these terms
We publish any new version on this page with a new date. It applies to your use from that date on.
